The following websites have the most comprehensive accurate Catholic information I highly recommend them, especially if you are researching an issue: Huge source of just about anything your looking for. New Advent: includes encyclopedia, bible and The Summa Theologica of St. Thomas Aquinas Online Catholic Catechism: and search tool. Aside from the Vatican and these two other site this site gets my best vote. Latin Vulgate Bible: Just like holding the book in your hand. Very easy to maneuver on this website link. If you want to see the old Latin vulgate by Douay-Rheims also Catholic Bible in English, this is the place to go. |

Are
Mass readings even biblical?.. No bibles at Mass? Background on Sunday Readings. Sunday Readings - The part of Mass is called Liturgy of the Word. There are actually 4 new readings from Scared Scripture, (from the bible) we turn to every Sunday. We organize all the bible readings and prayers for a season in what we call a missiles. The First reading is from the Old Testament, next we responsorial reading from the Book of Psalms, which is often put in song form. Afterward, we have a second reading from the New Testament writings, i.e. letters, epistles. The final reading, during Liturgy of the Word is from one of the Gospels (read by a priest, or deacon.) The priest interprets the Word of God in the form of a homily or as some say a sermon. The difference between sermon and homily: A sermon can be on any subject not from the readings of the day. A homily is giving in direct correlation to the readings of the day.

"THE MASS REVEALED" I have never seen a website or viewed a DVD quite as spectacular as this one. It goes step by step into each part of the Mass and gives details about what's going on during Mass and why it's going on, including the scriptural bases for each part. You also have an opportunity on their website to view specific segments of the DVD, view a commentary on each part, read it in booklet form, and leave comments. I like this site because while there is music, you can turn it on or off. This is an A+++ must see website for anyone who wants to know more about why Catholics do what they do at Mass. Go to www.catholicmass.org Bookmark this site before you leave. |

Catholic apologetic websites that dare to answer the hardest questions and cover nearly every topic. Catholic Answers is a popular site for many reasons, there is so much to say and they cover it all. However, with so much information here are some short cut links to specific questions that will get you started: Scripture and Sacred Tradition, Mary & the Saints, purgatory, rapture, antichrist, Salvation, and a whole lot more. Don't see what your looking for go directly to the apologetic part of the Catholic Answers website. St. Paul's Center for Biblical Theology is another great source of information. Founded by Scott Hahn who is the President this website has an excellent library for Catholic's and non-Catholics, beginners and moderates. Apologetics library, Scripture library, and liturgy & prayer library. EWTN Global Catholic Network also offers a wonderful page on their website called Faith. Their faith page will cover just about everything and anything. There are also areas within the page that you can ask questions 24 hrs a day. |
